Getting started

Trendshot turns one selfie into the viral photo trends of the week: a 90s yearbook portrait, an 80s studio shot, a collectible action-figure box, a Y2K digicam flash, a hug with your younger self and about ninety more, with new trends added every week.

There is no signup step. An account is created for you when you install the app, so you can start straight away. You must be 18 or over to use Trendshot.

Common questions

What happens to my selfie?

Your selfie is uploaded to our server in Helsinki, Finland, and goes on to OpenAI, which makes the image, only after you allow AI processing in the app. First, a quick automated check confirms that the selfie shows a face and that the person does not appear to be a child. A photo that no run uses is deleted after 24 hours. The photos a run used, and the images and videos it made, are kept with that run for 30 days and then deleted. We do not run face recognition, and we do not use your photos to train AI models. The Privacy Policy has the detail.

Can I use a photo of a child?

Only a photo of yourself. The selfie must be of you, and you must be 18 or over; a selfie in which the person appears to be a child is refused. The one place a child's photo belongs is the Hug my younger self trend, and there it must be a photo of you as a child, never of anyone else.

Is the result a real photo?

No. Every result is made by an AI image model and is marked in the app as AI-generated. The model redraws the whole picture, so your likeness, hands, text and small details can come out wrong, and the same selfie can give a different result next time.

A result looks wrong or offensive. What can I do?

Report it from the result in the app. We review every report. You can also delete the result from your history at any time.

How do I delete my photos and my data?

Delete any single result from your history in the app. To delete everything, open Settings → Your data → Delete my data. The deletion page explains what is removed and what is kept.

How does billing work?

Trendshot runs on credits, and the app shows what a trend costs before you start it. A weekly or yearly subscription adds credits for each period, which do not carry over into the next one, and it renews automatically until you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. Credit packs are bought once, and their credits do not expire. The store takes the payment and handles refunds; the Terms of Use have the detail.

Subscriptions, credits, refunds and restoring

What you buy. Trendshot sells a weekly or yearly subscription and one-time credit packs through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The price, the credits and, for a subscription, the billing period are shown on the purchase screen before you buy.
Subscription credits are given for each period and do not carry over into the next one. Credit-pack credits do not expire.
Cancelling. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in the store: on iOS under Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, on Android under Google Play → profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel it.
What a trend costs. The app shows a trend’s credit cost before you start it. If a trend fails, or your selfie is refused by the photo check, the credits go back to your balance.
Refunds. Ask the store you paid. We do not hold your payment method and cannot refund you directly. A refunded purchase’s credits are removed from your balance.
Restoring purchases. Your subscription and credits belong to your account in the app, and reinstalling on the same phone normally reconnects you to it. If they are missing, use Restore purchases on the purchase screen while signed in to the same store account you bought with. If that does not bring them back, write to us with the store’s order number.

When a trend fails or looks wrong

The app cannot find a face. Use a selfie with one face, looking at the camera, not covered by sunglasses, a mask or your hand, in even light.
Selfie refused. The selfie must be of you as an adult. A photo in which the person appears to be under 18 is refused, and the check cannot be overridden. For the Hug my younger self trend, add the childhood photo in its own step; do not use it as the selfie.
Check your connection and try again — pictures are made on our servers, so the app needs to reach them.
Try again or try another selfie. Results are generated, so a second try can look noticeably different.
If a result is wrong or offensive, report it from the result in the app. We review every report.
Every result is made by an AI image model that redraws the whole picture, so it is a generated image of you, not a photograph. Your likeness, hands, text and small details can come out wrong, and the same selfie can give different results. Results are AI-generated: say so where you post them when the platform or the law asks you to.

You can share the picture itself or a 9:16 before-and-after video of it. The video is made on our server from your selfie and the result. Results and videos you have not paid for carry a Made with Trendshot mark. When someone opens a trend link you shared, it opens that trend in Trendshot if they have the app, and otherwise shows a page that helps them get it.

Account and data

There is no signup. We do not ask for your name, and there is no password to lose; an email address is only ever optional, in the feedback form, if you want a reply.
Deleting a result. Delete it from your history in the app; its files are deleted from our servers. Otherwise results are deleted 30 days after the trend was started, so save what you want to keep.
Deleting your account. In the app, open Settings → Your data → Delete my data and confirm. If you can no longer open the app, write to privacy@blwapps.com. The deletion page explains what is removed, what is kept and what to put in your email.
Your privacy rights. Access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection — write to privacy@blwapps.com. The Privacy Policy has the detail.
Where your data is. On a server we rent from Hetzner in Helsinki, Finland, inside the EU.
